To find a vintage 1950's men's wristwatch in such excellent cosmetic and mechanical condition is becoming more and more of a challenge so we are delighted to have found this one.
Manufactured in Switzerland by the Croton Watch Company, this stunning 10K gold plated wristwatch features a 34.0 mm / 1.34" diameter case, excluding crown and lugs, that surrounds a beautiful champagne dial complimented by gold sword hour and minute hands, red tipped arrow center sweep, raised gold Arabic numbers and baton markers, and black outer chapter, all under a bright crystal with only very slight surface scratches.
The Swiss17 jewel, cal. A8DA-C2495 movement sets and winds as it should, is running strong, and keeping very good time.
This beautiful timepiece is antimagnetic and shock resistant with a screw-down back and has been fitted with a vintage-leather accented gold scissor flex stainless band which suits it very well.

ABOUT THE BRAND:
Croton was founded in New York in 1878 by Jacob Horton as a watch and jewelry trade business.
In 1928, the company formally became CROTON WATCH CO. INC. when it expanded into assembling watches from Swiss and American components.
Harold I. Horton, the founder's son and a graduate of a five-year Swiss watchmaking course, continued the family business.
In the late 1930s, Croton formed a significant partnership with Swiss manufacturer Nivada SA, leading to the Croton Nivada Grenchen branding for U.S. market watches.
This collaboration brought professional-grade timepieces including dive watches and chronographs to American consumers.
In 1963, the company relocated to larger premises in Croton-on-Hudson, New York.
Around 1970, the company became CROTON TIME CORPORATION INC.
The quartz crisis of the 1970s proved challenging for both Croton and its partner Nivada.
In 1991, the Croton brand was acquired by Nationwide Time, a family-owned business run by the Mermelstein family.
In November 2024, Digital Artistry, a New Jersey-based marketing and e-commerce agency, acquired Croton Watches, shifting the brand to an e-commerce-first strategy.
