HISTORY OF THE WAKMANN WATCH COMPANY:
Wakmann Watch Company, established in New York in 1946, was a U.S.-based importer and distributor of Swiss watches, known for its professional and aviation-focused timepieces. The company notably partnered with Breitling in 1947, forming Breitling Watch Corporation of America, and also supplied the U.S. military with cockpit clocks and watches during World War II. Wakmann's history is intertwined with both the American and Swiss watchmaking industries, navigating import regulations and evolving aviation technology.

    ABOUT AUREOLE WATCH COMPANY:
Aureole Watch Company was a Swiss watchmaker founded in 1868 in La Chaux-de-Fonds by Philidor Wolf. Initially, the company focused on producing movements and lever watches, including ultra-thin models. In the 1930s, Aureole entered the wristwatch market and introduced one of the first date complications. The company was later acquired by Marcel Choffat in 1948, who relaunched it with new designs and saw production reach 400,000 pieces annually by 1968. Eventually, Aureole was acquired by Synchron in 1973 and its assets were later incorporated into other Synchron brands, including Cyma, Doxa, and Ernest Borel, before the factory closed.
