I can't really tell you much about the history of the Manalis Swiss watch company. It's one of those hundreds of small Swiss manufacturers who disappeared into history, leaving behind a few examples of the quality precision products they produced while in business.

This is a WWII Swiss made military watch which, from the looks of it, has fought many, many battles over the past almost 80 years and survived.

The chrome over brass French case shows a lot of wear but it's the perfect frame for the parchment dial that looks like an old oil painting in a gallery. It's once bright luminescent syringe hour and minute hands and raised numbers have grown dim to black outlines filled with gray, the outer chapter faded, but still visible and crisp like the old soldier itself. The crystal has been replaced.

The Swiss 17 jewel, incabloc movement sets and winds effortlessly, is running strong and keeping very good time.

This unique, and beautiful in its own way, timepiece features a screw down back and has been fitted with a vintage stainless steel flex band that suits it very well.

Only certain people will appreciate an old worn timepiece like this. To me, it's like an old soldier sitting on a park bench with a lot of stories to tell that are well worth listening to. We should take the time to do so.

Treasures like this should be appreciated for what they are, not tossed aside in our ever popular disposable society.
